We weren't alone

We discovered we weren't the only residents.
Behind a false window lived a colony of bees.
Elsewhere, a wasps' nest.
The wasps needed relocating.
The bees had other ideas.
We watched as the queen left the hive, followed by part of the colony, gathering together before moving calmly to a new home elsewhere on the estate.
It took less than an hour.
Watching thousands of bees make a collective decision is strangely peaceful.
A reminder that restoration belongs to more than just people.
