Some of the most important parts of a building are the ones nobody ever notices.

Two ageing septic tanks continue to serve the Hall remarkably well.

The recent survey showed the discharge quality is comfortably within environmental standards, giving the current team plenty of capacity while longer-term plans develop.

The survey also uncovered something hidden beneath the marquee.

Surface water and foul water had quietly become mixed together.

They've now been separated, each finding its proper course once again.

Eventually a modern treatment plant will replace the current system.

Until then, we're reminded that every healthy place depends on what happens beneath the surface.
